(And a video of a surprise to grandma and pappy from Evan and Mady but I can't figure outhow to publish it. Evan played his guitar and Mady sang happy anniversary.)

Book I am reading now...

This is one book that was in Oprah's Book Club and received great reviews...we'll see how I feel through my eyes.

On an icy winter night in an isolated house in rural Vermont, a seasoned midwife named Sibyl Danforth takes desperate measures to save a baby's life.  She performs an emergency c-section on a mother she believes has died of stroke.  But what if Sibyl's patient wasn't dead--and Sibyl inadvertently killed her?
As Sibyl faces and antagonism of the law, the hostility of traditional doctors, and accusations of her own conscience, Midwives engages, moves, and transfixes us as only the very best novels ever do.

Hopefully, I'll get it read one day this week. Stay tuned....

I have finally finished the book.
The book started off and I thought I'm going to enjoy this...but then it took a nose dive. In my eyes there was too much rambling about Connie's infatuation with Tom. Who cares!?
Just keep to the event and courtroom trial.  I skimmed a lot of pages as I couldn't stand reading it. Needless to say I hated the book. No more Oprah BookClub books for me if this is a representation of a "great book"!
On a scale of 1-5; 1 hated it 3 so-so 5 loved it, I give this book a 1.

The Inner Circle

Beecher White, a young archivist, spends his days working with the most important documents of the U.S. government.  He has always been the keeper of other people's stories, never a part of a story himself...until now.
Soon a man is dead and Beecher is on the run as he races to learn the truth behind this mysterious national treasure.  His search will lead him to discover a coded and ingenious puzzle that conceals a disturbing secret from the founding of the nation.
Gripping, fast paced, and filled with the fascinating historical detail for which Brad Meltzer is famous, THE INNER CIRCLE is a thrilling novel that showcases a brilliant author writing at the height of his craft.

My Review:

This book has two of my favorite things that makes reading fun...one it uses true historical facts in history so while reading for fun, I am learning about things in history that I never knew about. (I google the references to actual facts and read about it). I've learned my history by books such as this then in high school! The second favorite thing I like, it's a mystery.
The Inner Circle kept my attention I didn't want to put it down. However, I didn't care for Beecher's low self-image, I found that annoying.
I give it 5 stars because I can overlook his annoying self-image problems.
I hope to read other books by Brad Meltzer. (But hope his characters have more fortitude).

My first review

This is the story from the presidential secret service to the Kennedy's and that fateful day in Dallas.

My review:
I enjoyed reading about the details from the secret service men who were right there. Since I wasn't born until 1968 this helped me live that day that the world felt except with more details that the world didn't get at that time.
I give it 5 stars! I really enjoyed it!

My new blog

Recently, July 15th, my parents came to visit. My momma and I love to read so we were talking about the books we've read and what we thought of them. She showed me the books she's been reading and she looked at my collection of books I hope to read. Now anyone who follows my mom on her blog "book lust journal" knows she reads ALOT of books! I on the other hand take longer to get through a book. But I decided that I'm going to review books through my sassy gal eyes and give my brutally honest opinion (not that it's worth it's weight in gold) but it should be fun.
So here goes...stay tuned if you dare!
